Roper-Quincannon Family Tree


NOTE: My brother, Tom Reagan, and his wife, Lisa Konopka Reagan, had a very detailed family tree done last year and shared it among the family. Jim Kellner, Lisa's uncle, did the research and writing. 

The images cannot be copied from the pdf document, though, so I have left out copies of census forms and photographs. I will post information from other branches of the tree in the future.

I have made a few deletions in the text, such as the numbers next to people listed, though I had trouble deleting some of them.

But all of the credit belongs to Jim.


Generation 4 -- my grandparents' generation





Generation 4

Henry Joseph Roper, son of Bernard J Roper and Susannah Sweeney was born on 18 Mar 1883 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He died on 19 Mar 1956 in Massachusetts. He married Julia Quincannon, daughter of Peter Quincannon and Mary Gill on 07 Dec 1907 in Maine, USA.

Julia Quincannon, daughter of Peter Quincannon and Mary Gill was born about 1888 in Portland, Maine, USA. She died in 1966 in Rockland, Maine, USA.

Julia Quincannon and Henry Joseph Roper had the following children:

 i. Henry Gill Roper was born on 5 Apr 1908 in Portland, Maine.
He died in Nov 1964 in Camden, Maine. He married Alice Geraldine Flanagan.


ii. Bernard Raymond Roper was born on 26 Jul 1909 in Portland, Maine. He died on 21 May 1912 in Portland, Maine. 




Generation 5

Bernard J Roper, son of Bernard Roper and Elizabeth Holden was born on 27 Dec 1855 in Massachusetts. He died on 30 Jun 1917 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA. He married Susannah Sweeney in 1877.

Susannah Sweeney, daughter of John H. Sweeney and Bridget McCafferty was born about 1857 in Canada. She died in 1923 in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Susannah Sweeney and Bernard J Roper had the following children:

Mary Gill was born Jun 1860 in Ireland. She died on 02 Nov 1925 in Portland, Cumberland, Maine.

Mary Gill and Peter Quincannon had the following children:
    1. Sarah Josephine Quincannon was born on 02 Jan 1877 in Portland. She married Patrick Foley

    2. Patrick J. Quincannon was born about 1879 in Maine. He died on 27 Dec 1881 in Portland, Maine.

Elizabeth Holden, daughter of Richard Holden and Elizabeth____ was born in 1822 in England. She died in 1894 in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Elizabeth Holden and Bernard Roper had the following children: 





i. John Roper was born on 12 Oct 1848 in Boston, Massachusetts. He died in Cambrige, Massachusetts on 18 Feb 1898 in Cambridge. Massachusetts. He married Catherine Reardon.

ii. Mary Roper was born on 12 Feb 1851 in Boston, Massachusetts. She died on 3 Dec 1910 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She married John Coakley.

iii.Joseph Roper was born on 4 Jun 1853 in Boston, Massachusetts. He died on 23 Aug 1880 in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

iv. Bernard J Roper was born on 27 Dec 1855 in Massachusetts. He died on 30 Jun 1917 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He married Susannah Sweeney in 1877.

v. Frank Roper was born on 14 Mar 1858 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He died on 9 Feb 1911 in Cambridge Massachusetts. He married Ellen O’Connell


vi. William R Roper was born on 29 Jan 1867 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He died 30 Nov 1941 in Pennsylvania. He married Charlotte Corcoran. 






Generation 6

John H. Sweeney was born in 1825 in Ireland. He died in 1894 in Malden, Massachusetts. He married Bridget McCafferty

Bridget McCafferty, daughter of Hugh McCafferty and Bridget Brown was born in 1836 in Ireland. She died on 02 Aug 1891 in Malden, Massachusetts.

    i. James H Roper was born on 02 Aug 1815 in Ireland. He died on 25 Dec 1880 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He married Honora Maloney

    ii. Ann Roper was born about 1819 in Ireland. She died on 10 Aug 1849 in Boston, Massachusetts. She married Solomon Dill in 1848.

    iii.Bernard Roper was born in 1822 in Ireland. He died 24 Nov 1869 in Cambridge, He married Elizabeth Holden on 15 Sep 1847 in Boston, Massachusetts.

    iv. Mary Roper was born about 1825 in Ireland. She died on 25 Aug 1848 in Boston, Massachusetts.

    v. Joseph Roper was born in 1828 in Boston, Massachusetts. He died in 1884 in Cambridge, Middlesex, Massachusetts, United States. 



    Joseph Roper served in the US Navy during the Civil War and was stationed for some time aboard the USS Ohio~ One of the ships William Gray Cushing Jr. served on as well. ~ One wonders if they knew each other all those years before Henry Gill Roper met Mary (Cushing) Flanagan’s daughter Alice!





    Generation 7


    1. Richard Holden. He was born in England. He married Elizabeth.

    2. Elizabeth and Richard Holden had the following child:


     i. Elizabeth Holden was born in 1822 in England. She died in 1894 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She married Bernard Roper, son of John Roper and Catherine Roper on 15 Sep 1847 in Boston, Massachusetts.
