The upside of ancestry.com is that it supplies images of old census and death records. What had taken library trips and scanning through spools of microfilm can now be viewed in an instant.

- William Gray Cushing (1836 - ) was a soldier in the Civil War. He fell in love with one of the family's Irish maids, Mary Ann, and when he actually married her, the family disinherited him. Therefore they emigrated to Prince Edward Island in 1871. As per the 1881 census William Gray Cushing was 42 years old. A Shoemaker living in Lot 18. As per the 1891 census William G. Cushing was 54 years old. A House painter living in Summerside. As per the 1901 census William G, Cushing was 64 years old. A House painter living in Summerside. He was born Nov. 1836 in the U.S. and he immigrated to PEI in 1871. His wife Mary was born Dec. 22 1852 on PEI. As per a headstone in the R.C. Cemetery in Summerside. Mary's maiden name was BREEN. The stone reads as follows " Cushing Mary A Breen wife of William G Cushing 1852-1929" As per Maple Leaf Magazine Mary died in Rockland, Massachusetts and was buried in Summerside. Their son James W. Cushing married Annie Hester Rogers 1886-1970 on Oct. 07 1907. James died Jan 17 1967 in Daytona Beach Florida. They had 1 daughter.
